Bombshell Beauty Glowing Skin for Spring

Goodbye, goodbye winter. Hello beautiful fiery spring.

As a makeup artist, I love it when the seasons change. With new exciting colors and products, the game is even more fun. If we are leaving the cold winter months behind in favor of March and April, it is the perfect time to change our makeup and embrace your inner golden goddess. No matter where you are in the color spectrum, you can always improve your Complexion and promote a luminous glow from the inside out. The basis of beautiful skin is well-groomed skin. For best results, don’t forget to cleanse and moisturize your skin twice a day. The following tips and products are some of my favorites for me and my clients for beautiful vibrant spring looks.

The sunless Tanner has come a long way since the dawn of striped elbows, spotted faces and orange palm trees. During my years as a beautician and beauty expert, I have experimented with tons of products, including sprays, lotions, mousses, towels and creams. Although all types offer different advantages and disadvantages, one of my current products is the phenomenal 2 to 3 week tan from Vita Liberata. Poured into the skin with a tanning glove, this foamy formula, usually odorless, dries quickly and offers a comfortable and clean application. For best results, don’t forget to exfoliate the skin a day in advance. Just because your skin looks sunny doesn’t mean it’s protected from sun damage. So don’t forget to keep wearing sunscreen. To prolong the life of your fake tan, avoid harsh scrubs and soaps and moisturize them every day.

Once your skin is well prepared and you have applied the foundation of your choice, the cheeks are the ideal area to add color. (Whether you are wearing a tinted moisturizer, BB cream, cream, liquid or powder foundation, make sure you find a color that really matches your skin. Going too dark will give you an unrealistic Look that will not improve your appearance and will not look realistic.) Because you are sitting on your face at a higher level, your cheeks are usually one of the first places to react to the sun by tanning or burning. Since we all know the effects of sun damage on the skin, it’s best to imitate a touch of natural color with a bronzer, blush and highlighter — my three must-haves for effortless shine.

I always start with a bronzer, which can be applied under the cheekbones, on the temples, along the jaw and at the top of the forehead, near the hairline, to profile the face. To get a more natural tan, I use a bronzer with a matte finish. For a more festive look, there are bronzing powders with highlights. Some of my favorites are Hoola from Benefit, Laguna from NARS, Dummy Tan from Bare Escentuals and milk chocolate from Too Faced. If you are applying a bronzer, you can use an angled cheek brush for more precision. Don’t forget to gently blend the darker color for a flawless finish.

Once you have warmed up and defined the face with bronzer, it’s time to soften the cheeks with blush. Depending on the skin tone, coral, apricot, pink and peach shades can be applied to the bronzer with a Blush brush. Some of my favorite colors come from Nars and Milani, which are affordable, whether you are a beauty shopper at the pharmacy or a regular at the makeup counter. For the most natural use, first apply the blush closest to the hairline and slowly work closer to the face. Do not get too close to the sides of the nose and mouth. A light-colored wash is all you need to wake up your skin. To balance the rest of the face, you can slightly blush the forehead, nose and chin.

To complete your gorgeous glow, add a touch of highlighter just above the blush. When I work with a cream-colored solid like RMS Beauty or a liquid like Revlon Photoready Skinlights, both of which are absolutely gorgeous, I take a small amount and gently press it into the skin with my fingers or a small rod brush, gradually increasing the intensity. Powder markers such as Candelight by Too Faced can be applied to the same surface with a soft, angled brush. This last step will help you to get a visually plumped part of the cheeks, which is the final touch for a beautiful and radiant complexion.
